Ambedkar Nagar : A commotion broke out late on Thursday night during a marriage ceremony in Sijauli of Akbarpur Kotwali area. During the foot worship program, it was revealed that the groom was missing fingers on both his feet. On this the girl refused to marry. When the uproar increased, the Kotwali police reached the spot. After this, both the parties were taken to the police station.
Late on Thursday evening, the wedding procession of Manoj, son of Maniram, resident of Dadwa Mujahidpur village of Ibrahimpur police station area, came to the house of Gautam Rajbhar, resident of Sijauli, Akbarpur Kotwali area. Manoj was to marry Gautam's daughter Mangesh.
After refreshments, many other types of wedding ceremonies including Dwar Puja and Jaimala were completed safely and in a better manner. The program of worshiping the groom's feet started at around 1.30 in the night. During the foot worship, some women noticed that the groom had neither thumbs nor fingers on both his feet.
Information about this reached bridegroom Mangesh. She became furious and refused to marry. The family members tried to pacify him but to no avail. This created an uproar on the spot. Seeing the commotion increasing, the wedding party started preparing to leave from there. However, the villagers stopped all the vehicles.
Meanwhile, as soon as information about the uproar was received, the Kotwali police reached the spot. People from the groom's and bride's side were taken to the police station. Other marriage rituals could not be completed. The girl said that she would not marry. After this, the process of agreement regarding the transactions between the two parties continued till Friday evening.
