Ambedkar Nagar : Farmers of the district will be able to register in the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) till July 15 to get free electricity. For the convenience of the farmers, the state government has given an opportunity to deposit 30 percent payment at the time of registration and the remaining balance in three to six installments.
Private tube well consumers with capacity up to 10 horse power are being given free electricity from April 1, 2023. For this, it is mandatory for the farmers to deposit the entire previous bill.
Superintending Engineer Sanjay Kumar said that for the convenience of private tube well consumers, the opportunity to deposit the outstanding bills in three to six installments is till July 15. The deadline for registration in OTS has been extended.
The scheme is being promoted in rural areas, so that more and more farmers can avail the facility of free electricity. Told that for the convenience of farmers, OTS scheme is implemented from April 1. The pace of registration is low due to lack of interest shown by farmers.
While running tube wells, farmers should keep in mind that if the monthly electricity bill reaches more than 1050 units, then they will have to pay the entire bill at the rate of Rs 2 per unit. No relaxation will be given in this.
The department says that in fact, farmers sell water from their fields for money to irrigate others' fields, that is why this rule has been implemented. There are more than nine thousand tube well consumers in the district. They have outstanding electricity bills of more than Rs 50 crore.
