Ambedkar Nagar. The old man died by drowning in Saryu river near Govardhanpur village of Thana area. After the incident on Sunday morning, divers pulled the body out. The old man's toes were tied together. Later, the police sent the body for post-mortem.
On Sunday morning, an old man who was bathing at the Saryu river ghat started drowning in the river. The teenager who was bathing with them tried to save them but he also started drowning. Other people present there saved the teenager but the old man drowned. On getting information, SDM Alapur Sadanand Saroj and CO Rajbahadur Singh reached the spot. Divers were called.
The divers took out the old man after some time but by then he had died. Meanwhile, the people present there were stunned after seeing the dead body. In fact, both the toes of the old man's feet were tied together. He was identified as Ram Khiladi (75), resident of Neelkanth Sarai.
According to the police, the old man was taking bath with his brother's grandson on Sunday morning. Meanwhile he drowned in the river. The body is being sent for postmortem. Clear information about the cause of death will be available only after the report comes. The old man did not have any sons. He has a daughter who is married. Just two months ago, he had come from his daughter's house to live with his brother.
